Beginning Kiln Casting & Pate de Verre
WITH JOANNA MANOUSIS, NOVEMBER 7-9, 2018
This class will introduce a combination of casting and pate de verre techniques in order to translate the surface quality and form of ready-made and hand-sculpted objects into transparent and opaque glass. Students will learn from the ground up how to work with polyurethane rubber to create simple open-face mother molds, clay sculpting, wax assemblage and refractory mold making. Kiln firing, programming, annealing and cold working will be covered, giving students a comprehensive overview of all facets of the glass-making process. This is a class for beginners.
