‘DUPLICATING DETAILS’, Multi-Part Mold Making and Lost-Wax Casting
WITH JOANNA MANOUSIS, PGC, JULY 2-6, 2018
Students will learn how to create well-crafted ‘blanket’ multi-part mother molds in order to produce detailed multiples in wax. Re-appropriating everyday objects into one-of-a-kind configurations in glass, a variety of applications for shaping and casting waxes will be introduced, along with an in-depth overview of the lost wax process for kiln casting. Demonstrations will cover hand-built refractory mold construction, kiln set up, annealing and cold working. Slide presentations and one-on-one conversation will encourage and enhance your artistic practice.
July 2-6, 2018 / Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm / 8 Students
