The ‘Self-Contained Spray’ series personifies the idealized portraits of women from 1950’s advertisements. Making a recurrence in today’s design trends as retro, quirky and ultimately kitsch, the sculptural glass pieces are ironic personifications of the ‘perfect woman’ forever immortalized within her role as the domestic goddess.
These works are hand-painted with high-fire enamels, blown and kiln cast in glass. They represent the first series of works made after Manousis’ undergraduate degree spanning from 2007 - 2014.
